Ellen Mukwewa
Ellen Mukwewa is the Director and Managing Consultant at Marell Consulting Limited, with over 24 years of experience in education.
Originally trained as a Chemistry teacher, she has held a range of roles including senior leadership in an independent school. For the past half of her career, she has specialised as a School
Improvement Consultant, working exclusively with independent schools inspected by Ofsted.
Ellen is also a founder and director of the Non-association Independent Schools Alliance (NAISA), a not-for-profit organisation that supports and represents non-association independent schools. This work reflects her commitment to championing a sector that is often underrepresented, and gives her a unique, strategic insight into its challenges and opportunities.
She has extensive knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks, the Independent School Standards, and SEND regulations. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Chemistry, a Master of Education (M.Ed) with distinction, and Fellowship status from the Society for Education and Training.
Ellen’s work is driven by a clear belief: that every school, regardless of context, can improve with the right support, challenge, and leadership. She is committed to helping schools build strong foundations, develop confident leaders, and achieve meaningful, sustainable improvement.

With her extensive expertise, Ellen ensures a seamless and tailored approach to address your school’s unique needs while maintaining the highest standard of excellence.

Each Associate is highly qualified, with over 20 years of experience in the education sector, and operates their own independent business. Their specialised knowledge in areas like safeguarding, inspection procedures, Early Years Framework, SEND, Alternative Provision Frameworks, teacher training extend our capacity to deliver exceptional solutions tailored to your school’s unique needs.
